There are many ways to buy magazines now a days. As you can have paper copies or digital copies. For example iTunes sell magazines on their app on their iTunes store. A magazine which I was looking into is EDM magazine as it is very similar to mine. This magazine can be brought on the iTunes store where you can buy a magazine subscription for a year for £14.99.

The image to the right shows the digital versions of EDM magazine and the issues in which you can buy. As you can see some issued of the magazine are more expensive than other for example ‘EDM World Mag Issue 15’ is £3.99 compared to EDM World Mag Issue 3’ is £2.99 this variety in price is probably due to the article inside as maybe the add-ons inside such as a free cd or something similar.

One of the articles which I analysed was ‘mixmag’ magazine who are the biggest dance music magazine in the world. They sell their paper copies at £4.95. Mixmag are published by ‘Development Hell’ who are a publishing company in London. As this company specialize in dance and house music magazine I would get my magazines published by them.

My two biggest competitors for my magazine would be ‘mixmag’ and ‘EDM (Electronic Dance Music)’. The way in which I would compete with these two would be cheaper prices for example mixmag sell their paper copies at £4.95 so I would sell mine at £4.49 as this is psychological pricing as it makes it seem a lot cheaper.

As a result of all these factors I would sell my Magazine as digital and paper copies. The reason for this is because digital copies are becoming so popular by not recognizing this is would lose a lot of customers to online competition. Also a wide variety of customers still like to have a hard copy of the magazine.

Due to this I would sell my online copies on the iTunes store and the online book stores. My hard copies would be sold in a variety of supermarkets, HMV and WHsmith.
